Exxon Mobil Explosion? Complete. Media. Black Out

With the exception of a few mentions in the mainstream press when the incident originally occurred, Exxon is getting away with murder concerning their most recent snafu. I’m talking about the huge explosion at a gasoline refinery in Torrance, California that rained toxic ash on playgrounds and homes. Exxon assured their employees, and local citizens that “all was well,” though.

So what did happen at the Exxon plant, and why hasn’t it been talked about more since its occurrence? Employees who were present said there was a huge sonic boom, a fire, and loads of ash raining down on them.

Furthermore, a structure at the refinery was visibly damaged, with smoke smoldering from twisted metal, and with the air near the blast site smelling of sulfur and chemicals.

Is Exxon trying to hide the true toxic fall-out from Torrance residents? Inspectors were supposed to take air samples “as quickly as possible,” but no follow up reports have been released since the incident happened in February.

Mass Death Of Seabirds In Western U.S. Is ‘Unprecedented’ – Unexplained Changes Within Ocean To Blame

In the storm debris littering a Washington State shoreline, Bonnie Wood saw something grisly: the mangled bodies of dozens of scraggly young seabirds.

In the storm debris littering a Washington State shoreline, Bonnie Wood saw something grisly: the mangled bodies of dozens of scraggly young seabirds. Walking half a mile along the beach at Twin Harbors State Park on Wednesday, Wood spotted more than 130 carcasses of juvenile Cassin’s auklets—the blue-footed, palm-size victims of what is becoming one of the largest mass die-offs of seabirds ever recorded.

“It was so distressing,” recalled Wood, a volunteer who patrols Pacific Northwest beaches looking for dead or stranded birds. “They were just everywhere. Every ten yards we’d find another ten bodies of these sweet little things.”

7 Insane Realities About Water Pollution

Water is our most basic necessity and most precious resource.

Unfortunately, it’s also one of the most abused. Pollution of all sorts, at all levels, has long been a problem and there are a lot of sneaky things about water pollution you might’ve never realized. It’s only when we realize the truth about water pollution that we can curb it. These 7 truly insane realities about water pollution will shock you.

1. Industrial Pollution is Turning Water into Jelly

Remember that classic Saturday Night Live skit about Swill drinking water? Well, what was originally meant to be tongue-in-cheek might not be too far off. A recent study in Canada noted that decades of industrial pollution is leeching calcium deposits from lake soil and replacing it with acid. This acidic environment, along with reduced oxygen levels driven by climate change has caused native plankton to die and Holopedium, a jelly-like species of plankton that doesn’t require as much calcium, has moved in and literally made the water appear gooey. It’s very possible this invasion will affect drinking water reserves.

Bee Health Committee Chairman Praises Neonicotinoids, Denies Connection To Bee Deaths

Want proof that our representatives are likely taking handouts from Syngenta, Bayer, and other Big Ag makers of bee and butterfly killing neonicotinoids? Elected representative Rodney Davis of Illinois, who also happens to be the bee health committee chairman appointed to study pesticide and herbicide connections to colony collapse disorder, is singing the praises of neonicotinoids (neonics).

Davis claims that the bee-killing neonics have nothing to do with the recent findings of numerous other scientific studies showing that the pesticide class is likely killing off pollinators. He says that it is the Varroa mite which is to blame, not Syngenta, Bayer, Dow, Monsanto and other toxic chemical makers.

According to Rodney Davis, chairman of the biotechnology, horticulture and research committee:

Beekeeper Survey: “We’ve Lost Almost Half Our Bee Colonies In The Past Year”

According to a federal survey, more than two out of five American honeybee colonies died in the past year, marking the worst die off in almost a decade.

The survey was conducted by the U.S. Department of Agriculture with others in a ‘bee partnership,’ but what do you think they will do with this information since they are completely infiltrated by biotech interests (case in point, Tom Vilsack, for starters) – the very likely root cause of the bee die offs?

Study co-author Keith Delaplane at the University of Georgia said:

“What we’re seeing with this bee problem is just a loud signal that there’s some bad things happening with our agro-ecosystems. We just happen to notice it with the honeybee because they are so easy to count.”

Mainstream media says that “it’s not quite as dire as it sounds.”

40% Of Bee Colonies Have Collapsed In The Past Year

According to a federal survey that tracked the number of bee colonies between April of 2014 and 2015, more than 2 out of 5 of the hives have died in that period. This is the second largest die off recorded over the past 9 years. Many of the hives are expected to recover, and this year showed a (very) slight increase in the total number of hives over last year. However, the health of species is still in jeopardy as beekeepers are forced to divide their surviving colonies into smaller segments, stretching them to their limits.

What shocked researchers the most was the fact that the majority of the die offs occurred in the summer, which was the first time they noticed the trend. 27.4% of the colonies collapsed last summer compared to 19.8% from the previous season. One researcher claimed it would be just as strange as finding lower flu rates in the winter, and added “You just don’t expect colonies to die at this rate in the summer.”

This Proves How Dangerous Monsanto’s Weed Killer Is

Watch how French television station Canal+ puts Dr. Patrick Moore into a  hot seat when he asked the former environmentalist to prove the safety of Monsanto’s weed killer Roundup by drinking a glass of it. Dr. Moore, erstwhile co-founder and leader of Greenpeace and author of the book, Trees are the Answer, lost his composure as he vehemently refused to drink the weed killer.

A pair of temblors rocked the Big Island early Saturday morning (May 9). At 2:17 a.m. a 3.1 magnitude quake struck the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park area while a second quake of 4.5 magnitude shook a minute later at 2:18 a.m. west of Pahala. The quakes were felt across the island. –Hawaii 24/7

No changes were detected in Kilauea Volcano’s ongoing eruptions or any of the other active volcanoes on the Big Island after a 4.5 magnitude earthquake was reported north of Naalehu Saturday morning, the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory said. he quake was reported at 2:18 a.m. and centered about five miles north of Naalehu in the Kau District and six miles deep, according to Wes Thelen, the observatory’s Seismic Network Manager. Three aftershocks, magnitudes 1.6, 1.5, 1.4, were recorded at 3:30 a.m.

A Guide To California’s Water Crisis – And Why It’s So Hard To Fix

California saw this drought coming. Even if people in the state didn't know it would be this bad — now the worst in recorded history — they've known that dry years are inevitable and had all sorts of ideas for how to deal with them.

But for all that planning, California's current drought has been a total disaster. Reservoirs are drying up. Crops are wilting in the fields. For the first time ever, towns and cities will face a mandatory 25 percent cut in their water use.

The problem isn't that no one foresaw the drought. The problem is that no one has been able to solve an underlying issue that is simultaneously less scary and also much harder than a dry spell: California's convoluted water system and intractable water politics.

Earthquake Updates: Latest Areas Shook: Oklahoma Hit With 4.3 Quake, Baja California 4.4

In this latest earthquake update, Oklahoma was shaken by a 4.3 magnitude earthquake and across the country, Baja California was rattled by a 4.4 magnitude earthquake. Is this increasing seismic activity cause for alarm? The size and severity of these quakes are on an uptick and the frequency of these events are increasing daily. Another question that must be posed is are these quakes a natural moving of the plates beneath the surface or are these quakes being caused by Fracking?
